It’s quite hard staying motivated these days, especially when it involves spending my evening in a cold garage, but there have been some exciting developments in the last week or so.
Firstly, I’ve contacted some local Probus groups (stands for Professional and Business – they’re mostly recently retired business people) with a view to doing presentations about what I’m trying to achieve. I’ve had several very positive replies which hopefully means I will soon be making real headway in promoting the challenge, and the reason behind it, raising money for Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
Secondly, and this is a biggie, I’ve decided to go ahead and buy the boat in Ireland which I went to see a few weeks ago (follow the link to see my blog about the – I mean MY – boat). I had a very positive feeling about not only the boat, but also the previous owner, from the offset, and I haven’t been able to come even close to matching the boat’s credentials since I returned, so I suppose it was only a matter of time until I confirmed the purchase. I’ll have to drive over to collect her, taking a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, so that will be an interesting trip and one I am very excited about taking. I will, of course, update my website with my new boats details as soon as I have collected her.
As for my training, well it’s coming along! I’m doing sit-ups, press-ups and chin-ups each day and fitting in swimming, rowing and running 2 or 3 times each week. That will gradually intensify over the next 18 months. Any suggestions for improvements or ways of structuring the week to keep it interesting will be very welcome!
